Vice Admiral Karambir Singh, the next Naval Chief of the country.

Vice Admiral Karmibir Singh was elected the next Naval Chief by the Government. He will replace the current Naval Chief Vice Admiral Sunil Lamba. Lamba’s tenure will end on May 31, 2019. This information was given by the Defense Ministry spokesman through tweet. According to the official website of Navy, he is an alumnus of National Defense Academy Khadakvasla.

Vice Admiral Karmbir Singh joined the Indian Navy in July 1980. By 1982, he was appointed as a helicopter pilot. He has studied at the Defense Services Staff College, Wellington, UK. Apart from this, he has also studied with Mumbai’s College of Naval Warfare. He has also been on the post of Director at both these places. 

Karambir Singh, who received the highly specialized service medal, was given the charge of Vice Admiral on May 31, 2016. He has the experience of flying Chetak and Kamov helicopter as a pilot. In his 36 year career, he has commanded the ship of Indian Coast Guard. Simultaneously he was also the Commander of Naval Missile Corvette and Guided Missile Destroyer.
